Merchfire’s Merchanting Routine

January 3, 2010

I had a really great question from our newest Full Member, Impherfect! It’s a great question, and I was wondering when someone would ask about my Merch Pure experiment with the new character Merchfire – and how he’s been doing…

Impherfect asked “You mentioned that a character of yours started with a bone and eventually would become a millionaire. But how is this possible? I want to make some gold and I only have 200k.”

Merchfire’s Merchanting Routine

He started off with one regular bone, it’s true. After that…

he bought four trout at min, and sold them later at max price. And he’s still flipping trout and raw trout… and almost every time I login, he has completed the buy or the sell of the merch, and I put all the money back into buying trout or raw trout at min, and re-selling at max.

Some days, when the price is rising, it’s not possible to buy at min, and likewise, when the price is falling, it’s not possible to sell at max price.

The % gain each trade works out to some fantastic profits!

Buy at trout at 24gp, sell at 28gp.
Gain, 4 gold pieces.
(4/24)*100%=16.7% return on investment!!

Right now, you have more money than Merchfire! With 200k to invest, you could purchase 8333 trout at 24gp each. When you resell them at 28gp, you’ll end up with 233324gp, or just over 33k profit!

(On day 8 on the chart below, you are buying and selling nearly 25k trout, and need to include another low price item that’s easy to buy in volume, and provides 4gp profit per item)

If you keep at this same routine each day, your bank will look something like this:

Day 1: 200k
Day 2: 232k
Day 3: 269k
Day 4: 312k
Day 5: 362k
Day 6: 420k
Day 7: 487k
Day 8: 565k
Day 9: 655k
Day 10: 760k – you are almost a millionaire in under 2 weeks!

Thanks again for the question! I hope the detailed merchanting plan helps you start make your 200k earning it’s keep!!

By the way, right now, Merchfire is up OVER 1000% gains since he began!! And we are working our way to becoming a Millionaire Merch Pure! No Skills, No Added Money, No Other Money Making – Just A Pure Merchanter!

Mercher Only August 28, 2010 at 2:30 am

“Mercher Only” is a PURE merching account. Came out of the tutorial on 31 March 2010 with total level of 37. Experience points out of tutorial were 1154 Hit Points and 276 Woodcutting. All other levels show 0 experience points for a total of 1430 experience points. Still has same total experience points and same total level.

Started merching with 28 free eggs picked up on the way to the Grand Exchange on day of tutorial exit. Has never been a member. Has never had a random. Has never gained a single experience point. Has never collected anything since the 28 eggs. Has never made money any other way. In fact, has not left the Grand Exchange since arriving there with the 28 eggs.

As of right now (11:55pm 27 August 2010) this account has the following items:

1. 828,275 body runes (4,141,375 gp)
2. 345,854 fire runes (3,458,540 gp)
3. 5,327,392 coins (5,327,392 gp)

For a total account value of 12,927,307 gp.

I expect to break the 13 million gp threshold tomorrow at the latest.

Sold the eggs when I arrived at the Grand Exchange. Have bought and sold ONLY Fire runes and Body runes since.

Initially was buying fires for 5 and flipping for 7 for a ROI of 40% per fire. Now buying fires for 9 and flipping for 11 for a 22% ROI. Bodies have always been bought at 4 each then flipped at either 5 or 6 each for a ROI of 25% or 50% each flip. The biggest problem I now have is the 4 hour limit and the fact I have only 2 slots to use on the Grand Exchange. Sometimes it takes days to buy the runes, but when I sell they sometimes all sell instantly.

I also have a record of of every purchase and every sale since the account creation date as well as some ongoing screen shots during that time.

This is probably not the free-to-play PURE MERCHER with the fastest climb to over 10 million gp but it MUST be somewhere VERY high on the list.
